Retro Reproduction Vintage & Rare Hi-Fi

Retro Reproduction are vintage hi-fi specialists with a truly exquisite collection of audio exotica for sale - very much a specialist subject for a specialist market.

We were commissioned to provide a website with e-commerce capabilities, but to be produced as an online catalogue with the payment section hidden for the time being. The brief stated 'retro' over 'vintage' styling; they told us that they liked white and green, and they didn't have a current logo or true corporate identity, so we produced some retro / contemporary design ideas and took it from there.

Retro Reproductions were keen on improving their photography, so we set them up with a temporary booth that they could erect or dismantle when necessary. This meant we could photograph all the unique items they had in their catalogue, and gave us the opportunity to display these excellent photos on the website.

We designed the website with the intent of displaying high quality images. To satisfy the colouring options favoured by the client – green and white - we chose to use white for the main body of this project. It was going to look clean and fresh; not a speck of dirt in site. On top of that, we used three beautiful shades of green as the accentuating colours - pastel green, lime green and a green from in between, all displayed together in a typically retro three-stripe. This theme was carried throughout the website, but always maintaining that lovely, white breathing space. We chose all retro fonts, of course.

In true Cyan Sub style, the website was super responsive, including Photoshop capabilities in the CMS as well as an integrated mailing list. We also provided Retro Reproductions with their business cards and headed paper, sorted out all of their social media integration AND designed a printed newspaper advert for them.
